GALIBI - Employees of Myrysji Tours were trained in environmental awareness aspects by Stichting Samarja. They received information about separation of waste on the work floor. This has led to installation of special net bags around the Myrysji Lodge in Galibi. Today, all plastic bottles and tin cans are collected in these bags. The bags are then transported by Myrysji Tours Suriname to Paramaribo where they are processed by Stichting Samarja. Still every day the water of the Marowijne River washes bottles and other waste on the beach of Galibi. Myrysji Tours Suriname cleans up their surroundings every day.

In september 2011 it had a collaboration with Bibliotheek Galibi (local library) to clean up the beach. Since this is also one of the objectives of this latter organization. With this initiative the two organizations hope to influence other villagers in keeping their surroundings clean too.
